We have 4x4 m sheets of material. Calculating the required belt length for this area yields 7.5 m for precise cutting. Is it possible to manufacture or upgrade one ourselves for this area?
You would need to extend the belts from the anchor points on the frame. There is a setting for putting in extensions I believe.
I haven’t done it myself, but check out this post for connecting with someone that has:
Added 1 Metre Extension to all belts and went back to Horizontal

the problem you would have it that the spools don’t hold enough belt for that
size. they will hold ~14.5ft of belt and you need almost twice that much. just
to get from one corner of you 4m square to the other corner will need a bit over
18’ of belt, so simple extensions won’t be enough (the current belt would let
you get to almost 3m/10ft square with extensions)
everything is opensource, the cad is available (and I have an onshape cad that
inludes parameterized spool sizes see
) a quick check there says that you need to go from the current ~126mm diameter,
82 tooth spool to around a 146mm 96 tooth spool. that’s “only” 10-15mm wider, so
you could design new arms and spools and probably keep everything else the same,
let me know if you are interested in pursuing this.
