Z axis - No movement at all, Maslow 4.1

Thanks for your response. By running the sled all the way down do you mean
leveling out the position of z axis all the way down till it won’t go further?
The issue i¢m experiencing is not really consistent, but I¢ve several times
been able to calibrate the machine with then z axis all the way down (using no
bit of collet in the router).

there are two different issues that we have seen

  1. defective board where the stepper driver at the top fails or is intermittent

  2. the steppers aren’t quite aligned right, so it moves up and down fairly well,
but sometimes gets stuck near the bottom.

In the first case, the replacement board that Bar offered will be the fix.

In the second case, run the machine all the way down like you should when you
calibrate (so the steppers just click, not move) and then loosen all the screws
on each stepper and retighten them. the slight shift that can happen with the
bolts in the holes can be enough to make a difference.

Thanks guys! I’ve ordered a new board, but I’ll also have a look at your suggestion David.

I think I am on my 3rd or 4th board will a failed chip where one of the steppers will not go up or down.

For the most recent board, it was suggest by another Maslow enthusiast to try unscrewing the control board from the Maslow. I did that. I seem to be getting lots of good cuts, I will keep you posted, maybe this board has better solder???
