Z-Axis only goes up

When using the Maslow web controls, the Z stepper buttons both move the z-axis up. The stepper motors move smooth and can be hand rotated in both directions but when you control it from the we UI, both buttons move the z-axis up.

Context:

  • Completed the assembly 4/28
  • Updated firmware to 1.04
  • Updated yaml and .gz to 1.04
  • Have not tried to calibrate yet

Any help would be appreciated.

Well that is a weird one!

Do both motors rotate when you push the buttons?

Yes, everything moves as expected and smooth, just only in one direction… up.

That is so weird.

My first instinct is that it could be an issue with the maslow.yaml file (that file sets which pins are used for the stepper motors) but the update to 1.04 should overwrite it.

Can you try deleting just the maslow.yaml file and replacing it with a fresh one (you can download it from here: Release v1.04 · BarbourSmith/FluidNC · GitHub)

Deleted yaml. Downloaded 1.04 yaml. Uploaded to PCB. Restarted Maslow.

Still only jogs up.

UI output show Jog 2 and Jog -2, so it’s sending + and - but the Maslow only moves +.

This is the command output when I hit the + z button.

That’s a new one for me, but lets call it a controller board issue. I will DM a code for a free replacement right now.

I’m sorry for the trouble!

No need to apologize. I’ve been watching Maslow for years and was finally able to afford to jump in. I know it’s somewhat experimental (and I like that) but how else can the general hobbyist afford a large format CNC?

Thanks for chasing your dream/vision, @bar. I’m thrilled to be a part of it.
