What should I replace? The CNC calibrated with out a hitch at 900 retraction force. Then when I went to cut I had to raise the value 1000, then 110, then 1200 and I finally stopped at 1300. It is still not retracting.

1300 isn’t really that high, we used to have the starting value be 1200.
The first thing I would try is just extending it out and retracting again. Sometimes the belt will get coiled up in there funny and lead to more friction. Just press Retract and then when it doesn’t retract press Extend and it will let you pull on it to extend it out. After doing that it might retract easier
