Belt unspooling

Maslow 4 .87 firmware

Unconfirmed 643108.crdownload (2.4 KB)

Having repeated issue where the same belt slowly unspools. Retract, Extend, Apply Tension, all good. Then a simple jog and the belt starts to slowly unspool. If I’m not careful, it makes a huge tangled mess of belts. It is the bottom right belt that has a problem when moving to the left.

Seems like if it was an encoder problem the retract, extend, apply tension would also fail???

Any ideas?

Update, just tried jogging to the right. Now the top left and bottom left belts have a couple extra inches let out…

If you are using the original Maslow 4.0 it maybe a problem with a floating pin on the encoders. Check this link

It could be a floating pin, or it could be an issue with calibration.

This does seem right.

Another issue could be a lose magent which creates basically an encoder issue which only shows up over time (as the magnet rotates).

If you do Retract All → Extend All → Retract All what numbers do the arms print out? (We would hope that they are close to zero)

This almost always leads to issues when extending the belts, have you had any issues there?

I will get back to you when my new board arrives. My old board is no longer working after I tried to upgrade the firmware to 1.02. I can start a new thread on that topic.

Retract, extend, tension, all seem to work well. No errors. Then I try to move and the belts extend faster than they should.

This sounds like a calibration issue to me. If they all move faster than expected that’s because the machine is at a different location than it thinks it is so it is quickly trying to get to the right place.

Fixed my v1.0.2 installer and tried the firmware again. My board is connecting to wifi again.

Issue seems to be resolved by loading 1.02 firmware. I will keep you updated. I also removed hot glue and reconnected everything to make loading the firmware easier and getting ready for a new board.
