I’ve finished building the M 4.1. Very excited getting started. The firmware is updated to the latest release.
Upon running the machine setup I can retract all belts. They are all nicely pulled in. However when running extend all nothing happens and the ‘console’ immediately prints out:
Extend All [MSG:INFO: Extending all belts] [MSG:INFO: All belts extended to center position]
Doing the ‘rocking movement’ while pulling any of the belt ends does nothing. I’m pulling with quite some force, but I’m weary of breaking stuff.
Also changing how much the belts should extend does not make a difference.
Maybe I’m missing a crucial first step?
Further more I get a bunch of Error 3 messages in the console when I initiate the web interface. Not sure if this has something to do with what I’m experiencing.
Does anyone have similar experiences or a solution for me?
@Betalombo thanks for your response. I’m able to do a similar movement and wiggle the belt ends about 5mm out. However they don’t automatically extend any further than this. Further more the cooling fan does not turn on when initiating ‘Extend all’.
I too am having problems extending my belts. i am using firmware 1.17.
when i tap on the extend belts in settings, the bottom left gear starts spewing out the belt, when it reaches the end of the belt, it keeps going and start pulling the belt back in. the other belts, will with some rocking can be pulled out to about 3 or 4 ft and stop.
here is what the interface is telling me when i retract the belts:
Retract All
[MSG:INFO: Retracting all belts]
[MSG:INFO: Requesting state change from Belts Retracted to Retracting Belts]
[MSG:INFO: Succeeded]
[MSG:INFO: Top Right pulled tight with offset -0.075]
[MSG:INFO: Bottom Left pulled tight with offset 42.901]
[MSG:INFO: Top Left pulled tight with offset -0.032]
[MSG:INFO: Bottom Right pulled tight with offset -0.376]
[MSG:INFO: Requesting state change from Retracting Belts to Belts Retracted]
[MSG:INFO: Succeeded]
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
If the custom is to start a new thread, please let me know and i will delete this missive.
It’s possible you don’t have the versions correctly installed. Can you go to the setup menu then click on test and post the results here. It will help us diagnose what is going on.

so it looks like i did something wrong on the bottom left. i will open her back up and see.
You might have the roller upside down or its loose and needs regluing or its on the wrong side. Easy to get wrong, but a pain. At least you have a clear problem.
While you have arm apart, check the spool rotates easily. If not consider sanding where it revolves.
OK, very excited. i apparently had the magnet on the wrong side or facing the wrong way. found i had broken a few parts using gorilla torque and ordered some more. belts retracted and extended. no error code. made the mistake of extending the belts turning off the power and moving the device to the frame. in pulling it back down and going through the retract/extend belt routine, one of the rollers chewed through a belt.
i’m getting closer. i’ll order a couple of new belts and try again.
