Bending wood pannels: lattice hinge

Something I found out recently, that seems to be cool to play with on a Maslow!
The official name seems to be lattice hinge

a short video (30s)

an explanation in english (other pages on the topic exist on the same site)

an example in french

Did somebody already tried, or is interested ? What do you think about it ?

I started to prepare a workflow to calculate the design of the lattice as function of the curve dimensions, material properties, … I plan to test it on 18mm plywood

That looks quite similar to the method used to create the ‘kerf bent box’ at makercase.com

(try downloading one from there and you’ll see)

Yes it is. Thank you for the link, I did not know this project. Did you try to build one ?

I did, but it was a long time ago and I no longer have it so am unable to show a photo. Mine was done on a laser cutter, but I gather one can change the parameters on the makercase.com webUI to account for the larger kerf of the Maslow’s router. If you give it a try I’d be keen to hear how you get on
