Ah, ok. I see it now. Trying to return to Home but not waiting for Z to get to safe travel height. Can you post your gcode when you get a chance?
Yup it is above, want me to post again? I ran it, it LOOKED to be doing what it was supposed! Even Z returned to the upper height it did for the other passes to jump over that left corner…
great test, what a great idea. Nothing was getting bound up. hard to see if it veered that much in, must be very small amount. I saw it raise for 2 passes for the tabs before going to top left, stopping, Z axis raising all the way up, then going down at slight angle to home at the bottom.
Here is the code again, I think it was 7 passes total as have depth set to .77 (little play in there), and 1/8 passes…

Now were getting somewhere. I can see in the G-Code where Maslow is sending Z to +3.0 then moving to HOME. Thsi coupled with the experiment kinda tells me your Z is either sticking of or the motor cant get it all the way up
My gift to you all for helping me! 1/4 inch but in a Zip Rip, the end of tape pushed up against. Perfect fit in a Holey test hole. We account for the difference in the tape and the plastic getting to exact edge. Easy to measure. Push in hole, run tape to the right side of next hole. Zip Rip (got on Amazon) fits on any tape measure. Get a good class 2. We just need Holey to have an option for this setup to drill run 2 and 3 just off a bit from the previous run, but equal to itself in a way.
Note I have to tighten the screws that why the tape end moved away from the bit a touch; but you guys get the concept.
ok back to this. So this is good right, the code is doing what it should, maybe my router is still too tight or motor weakens under load that deep in cut? Can we adjust that power? Like make a setting or something?
Sorry for any that saw, its not rip zip, called Zip Rip…
Its not a power issue becaue when the router finishes the final pass it should first fully retract to the +3.0 retract height and ONLY then start its traverse to Home. The bit shouldnt be seeeing any resistance in the wood becaue it is in a pocket that it has already cut away. Theres nothing to bind the bit.
No, the issue is in the Z-Motor, The router base, or tthe screw.
ok good point, as that hole where it stops is plenty wide to not bind. Maybe start with loosening the route base even more? I mean I tightened back a mini turn as the setting was going to use, when you grabbed top of router she rocked a little bit…I thought that may not be good. What do you think?
Rocking a bit is ok. The bungie will keep it in place.
Let’s check the this first:
Where the screw passes through the spindle lock it engages a thread that is plastic. Sometimes this palstic can be stripped out or broken causing the screw to spin but not raise or lower the router.
ok unless that is mine from a pic, we have the same exact router which is good
Nope it is yours, you have black ring mine blue. ok I understand that concept, can we remove it or try to put under load with finger?
I am thinking I need to see the threads right or under a load somehow with router off of it? or maybe line up and bury in one of them deep holes, see if it gets stuck manually rising it in Webcontrol?
You need to make sure that the plastic thread isnt stripped or broken. If it is you should be able to grab it with your finger and give it a good pusk or tug. if it slips or moves then its broken.
also I did notice this, in the channel the little guide pin rides in…midway down when running the channel with a punch…you can feel a piece of metal in there. Like leftover maybe from the machining. Maybe that deep, that is adding extra force to get past on way up and messed up the orange part?
wait, what???
let me show you if I can…I just noticed it with the router out. You cannot see it, but can feel it…
See the shiny metal I just scrapes with a small metal punch? There is a shmeg piece of metal, it’s shiny in the pic…I think you can see I hope.
yes…right about where the darker line is on yours… Now I scratched that up, was not like that…trying to get the chunk of whatever off there from the machining of router. I think it broke loose now. and yon see it still in the base I hope…
