Crib/Co-sleeper with Maslow4

I had planned for the Maslow to do all the fabrication on this, but it absolutely choked on the kerf-cutting for the bent corners. I had to do that with a jig I made. Still, it turned out pretty well!

This is stunning!

How did you fill in those kerf cuts? Love that look.

1/8ā€ walnut splines.

The math on smooth kerf-bending is tricky - more cuts = smoother bends but unless you want gaps with a given sweep, the required kerf thickness gets smaller than feasible.

So I decided to lean into this, using a tapered router bit and 1/8ā€ walnut splines. Closing the taper tight to the spline gives an effective kerf of 0.06ā€ and 22 kerfs for a smooth curve.

I wish the Maslow could have done the kerfing, but it kept tracking into neighboring kerfs, going wildly off-course and mangling the workpiece. I’m not sure why.

Woah! That is such a cool idea!
