I’ve been doing some testing with 0.85.1 and it seems to me like maybe the belt tensions are actually too high now.
Has anyone else run into that?

Over tension seems to be associated with Z movements, maybe need to re-visit how M4 compensates for Z
They seem pretty tight on mine, but also sorting out some mechanical issues. Sled lift on the left side of the workspace is much worse and I personally think it’s from tension or calibration, I don’t really buy the “wax the sled” thing. But I need to fix this mechanical issue then see how it runs.
Noticed belt tensions seem high after upgrading. When tensioning the belts there is now an audible creak coming from the frame. I am also getting over current alarms on one motor.
I’m going to try lowering the tension threshold during calibration and re-run the calibration to see if that lowers the belt tension overall
In my case, the tension was so much that it tore the upper straps from the base.
Today I calibrated with tension at 1300 and retraction at 1100 and it worked well, although I have not tested that much, just two cuts.
New to this - so where do you go to alter the tension?
It’s slightly hidden because it’s not something that most folks need to interact with regularly. It’s in the config settings here:
This is the specific setting that you want.
I dropped it down to 1000 and it absolutely works to reduce the tension in the belts when cutting. 1000 seems a bit too low so I’m going to bump it back up to 1200 and see how that feels.
