Firmware feature request

please add options in the config file (not in the UI) to support spools that wind clockwise instead of the default counter-clockwise. (can be left out and defaults to the current CCW direction). I think it would be best to do this on a per-arm basis. I’m thinking that with copilot, this should be a simple change

I want to test the spool design at Onshape which should fit a little more belt and hold it better as you get close to emptying the spool, but due to the position of the belt sensor, it would need to wind the other direction.

Cool idea! I love it!

I think that this should be a super easy change MotorUnit.cpp file, I’ll take a look.

Could also just reverse the polarity on the motor. I.e. make a cable which reverses the +ve & -ve.

That would absolutely work.

That would work, I’m just looking for something that doesn’t require making
custom cables or soldering on the motor

I like this idea, only problem I can see is magnet sensor roller would be on the smooth side of the belt, possibly missing steps. You have probably got a work around for this.

I think that reversing the motor direction lets us bring the belt off the other side of the spool so the encoder would still be in the same place, right?

that is why I need to spool the other way, so that the toothed side of the belt
can be against the same sensor roller, but also against the inside of the spool.
