workpiece) is to set the spoilboard and workpiece thickness values so that the
machine knows the full Z offset.
these thicknesses, combined with the length of the bit, added up to enough to
make the belts the wrong length for the safety check, the fix in v1.16 handles
the difference due to the bit, but the machine doesn’t know about the spoilboard
and workpiece thicknesses unless you tell it.

Appreciate the tip! I hadn’t found the settings for workpiece/spoilboard thickness values - are those under some menu or should I edit them manually in the system config file?
right now, you have to go to the fluidnc tab, click the bubble on the right for
config options, then they are about 15 items down.
change them, save, then go up to the top to save them to your .yaml file
