Fitness too low x 7 attempts on latest Firmware

I’ve run thru the process multiple times with no luck. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

This worries me it. It tells me that your machine is having trouble retracting
belts reliably, can you run a few cycles of extending/retracting the belts to
see if you are getting reliable offsets near zero? (the lower the better), you
may need to increase the pull tight and calibrate current limits in your
maslow.yaml

After that, when you do calibration, are the belts tight at every step? or are
they sometimes loose?

Thanks for the help!
I am getting lose belts, bottom right being slack sometimes and spooling out a bit more than it needs to. I can grab a video of the calibration if that would help.
Two questions:
-How do you extend/retract?
-How much should I increase the tension number by?

  • Also I have about a quarter inch of play in the belt spools as the sit on the router shaft, is this normal or should there be little no wiggle room here?
  • remove the maslow from the frame.
  • press “CONFIG” in the settings dialog and set your retraction threshold and frame size, etc. I’d go with 1500 or 1800 on the threshold
  • press “RETRACT ALL” in the same dialog. Once all the belts snug up to the arms you are good. if any of them don’t go back and bump up the threshold a little (100 or so) and try retract again
  • press “EXTEND ALL” and pull the belts out until they stop letting you pull. The fan will stop when all are out
  • re-attach the maslow.
  • click calibrate

Totally normal

in the popup that does calibration, there is the extend, hit that and pull the
belts out, then hit retract all.

until the belts are reliably tight  the default was recently changed from 130
to 1500 and many people have gone higher, increase by 100 or 200 each try.

you should also increase the calibration current (see the settings tab on the
menu where you upload a new firmware version, or edit the maslow.yaml file)

  • Also I have about a quarter inch of play in the belt spools as the sit on the router shaft, is this normal or should there be little no wiggle room here?

that is normal.

OK I’ve upped my resistance to 1500 and did the extend/retract and I’m seeing slack on the lower right belt of about 2 inches.
What is the fix for this? Second test about 4 inches

WARNING FITNESS TOO LOW. DO NOT USE THESE CALIBRATION VALUES!

You have to address the belt not being pulled in all the way first or the calibration will not be able to find your anchors. Now that I have put together arms several times, I think the best way to get a tricky belt to pull in all the way is to set your current up to 2000 or 2200 until it does go all the way it, then set it back to 1800 and do another set of extend all / retract all, maybe even repeating this a couple times. I have noticed that this takes a little trial and error the first few times, then it starts to behave better. I think it probably has to do with the tightness on the gears, etc and once the lubrication works its way in it starts to behave better.

WARNING FITNESS TOO LOW. DO NOT USE THESE CALIBRATION VALUES!

I had this same issue… Put a 2*4 in the center, and you will get better fitness. There’s too much flex in the center.

error:3

this is indicating a problem (that a command is being sent that the system does
not understand), are you sure you have the same version of
index.html.gz as your firmware?

$Config/Filename=maslow.yaml
$AP/Country=01
[MSG:INFO: Retracting all belts]
error:3
[MSG:INFO: Top Left pulled tight with offset -0.086]
[MSG:INFO: Top Right pulled tight with offset -0.097]
[MSG:INFO: Bottom Left pulled tight with offset -0.064]
[MSG:INFO: Bottom Right pulled tight with offset -10.865]

this is a problem,

[MSG:INFO: Retracting all belts]
error:3
[MSG:INFO: Bottom Right pulled tight with offset 0.011]
[MSG:INFO: Top Left pulled tight with offset -0.011]
[MSG:INFO: Top Right pulled tight with offset 0.011]
[MSG:INFO: Bottom Left pulled tight with offset 0.011]

but this looks good, can you reliably extend/retract with low offset values? or
do you sometimes get the larger values above

I do have a cross beam between the center up rights behind the spoil board.

I just updated all my firmware and other files just before the beginning of this post but I can cycle through them again and give it another go.

But that center support beam behind the spoil is flexing on the other 2*4’s, and the ply wood flex’s too much on that span…
But I could see the flex when all 4 belts tightened during calibration on mine,.so if you don’t see or hear the flex, maybe it’s not an issue.

As far as file updates (maslow.yaml, index.html and firmware)… Windows ‘recent files’ screwed me a couple times and didn’t upload the proper file version, so I though I was uploading the correct version but Infact I wasn’t (long complicated story). So I finally saved the files in a version folder instead of the windows download folder…

I’m wondering about this warning? is the key misspelled somewhere so it’s not using proper calibration grid height?

I can’t tell from the photo - is the frame angled out 15º? I thought there was a minimum amount it needs to be angled, but can’t tell from the camera perspective.

I think that this is great advice

OK, I did a bunch of stuff:
-Updated: Frimware, yaml and index, plus I was not at the recommended 15degree so I tilted my frame to the 15 degrees.
With all of those changes, not knowing which one did the trick I got a completed calibration, but still getting an error:3 and when I try to jog the machine I get a “Maslow does not know belt lengths. Please retract and extend before continuing.”
After doing a retract extend I’m still getting the error:3 and a repeat of the “Maslow does not know belt lengths. Please retract and extend before continuing.” message when trying to jog.
Maslow-serial (1).log (14.5 KB)

Feel like I’m making progress now!
Thanks for all the help.
Now to clear up the error:3 issue. Anyone know what that error means and how to clear it up?
