Force and torque

What is the difference between force and torque?

Force is a linear “push” you give to something.

Torque is a rotational “twist” you give to something.

Torque is denoted as a force times a distance: the linear push you give on a wrench handle, times the wrench handle length, gives the torque that turns your bolt.
