I am considering converting my Maslow over to a traditional rectangular coordinate cnc by ordering some linear bearings and rails. I would like to still use the chain motor and arduino from the maslow kit.
Does anyone know if it is possible to setup ground control as a rectangular system and have one motor drive the x and one drive the y?
No, the Maslow firmware will not support that (and Ground Control does not
support other firmware)
What I would suggest is that you look at the grbl based fork of the firmware and
see if you (or if you can find someone ) who can take the motor control of that
fork and merge it into the stock grbl so that you can use the corexy kinematics
mode of the stock grbl (see corexy.com for how that works), that will get you a
much better machine than running the maslow firmware.
