Insulboard as backer?

I use insulboard (foamboard) as a backer when I cut plywood panels with a circular saw. Has anyone tried it as a backer for M4?

No hurry as a I just finished unboxing and started assembly!

Finally got to testing and discovered a couple of issues with using insulboard on a horizontal installation:

  1. The insulboard slides way too easy on a concrete floor. I solved this for my initial test with some spray adhesive (77) but that’s definitely suboptimal.
  2. The target object slides way too easily on the insulboard. I attempted to address it with some heavy duty woodworkers’ double sided tape but that turned out to be insufficient. In the end I held it down with an 8 gallon water container just for this test and was able to successfully finish the job.

Bottom line: I wouldn’t recommend it
