After switching to the JST controller and encoders I reran a calibration and the fitness went up although the initial score after 9 points had me worried.

when you run calibration multiple times, it uses the previous solution as a “starting point” for the next run, so it isn’t too odd to see minor improvements between subsequent runs without an external change.
I’d guess this has more to do with that, as I can’t think of any reason why the JST connectors would improve calibration?

I should have clarified that both results were with a new maslow.yaml file, so both started from the same point. The first was with the original board, the second was with the JST version.
