Laser files!

For those who’ve been wanting the .ai laser file for this linkage here you go! I’m sorry I’m just now posting it, for some reason I though I had posted it before but perhaps I had only sent it to people who had asked.
45degree linkage laser file.ai (75.6 KB)

It’s designed assuming .25" plywood and a .014" total laser kerf. The parts share lines so if your laser software doesn’t support color separation I would suggest you organize things so that all the holes cut on their own job before the parts get cut out. The reason is that the hole spacing is the single most important part to get accurate, if your machine cuts one hole then cuts out the part then cuts another hole there is a good chance the part will have shifted and your holes will no longer be accurately spaced.
This file is NOT set up to be cut by other CNC means but it could probably be modified if you really feel the need (I think it would probably be easier to just start from scratch though).

If you are making your own I would highly suggest getting some high quality baltic birch or similar plywood. 7 ply seems to work really well. It’s strong, dimensionally stable, and remains quite flat. Depending on your laser and laser settings it also cuts cleanly. Of course this could be cut from metal too, in which case you could go MUCH thinner on the material.

Please let me know if you have any questions!!

I’m sorry for the super late response to this! I was out of town for a while then got caught up with crazy life when I got back and I sort of neglected this forum a bit. I realize you probably already have this totally solved but I figured I’d post here just in case someone else has the same question (I will also update the wiki and add some better pictures of the hardware at some point).

There should be 18 wooden parts that glue together to make 6 linkage bars. There will also be 6 smaller wooden parts (labelled G1, G2, and G3) that make up the clevises. The hardware is all in one small bag. There will be:

  • 4x 1/4" female barrel bolts 1/2" long, #10-24 thread
  • 6x 1/4" mating screws with a 1/4" shoulder and #10-24 x 5/16" thread
  • 2x 1/4" female barrel bolts 1" long, #10-24 thread
  • 4x 4" #10-24 machine screws
  • 4x 3/8" OD #10 x 3/4" nylon bushing
  • 4x #10-24 nylock nuts
  • 4x #10 SAE flat washers
  • 2x 3/32" x 1" zinc plated steel cotter pins

I’ve also added this to the Wiki.

Thanks very much for the update Logan,
I have constructed my linkage kit and can confirm that all parts were there.

Thanks Stuart

Curious if you or any other members have gotten around to this? It’d be awfully helpful!

Hi:
I just checked your etsy site and saw they are sold out-any plans to make more? I’d be interested.

Thanks!
James

Logan,
Are you able to provide the linkage kits? It seems I had a mishap with my lawn mower and crashed my Maslow, thus my ring and angle brackets are toast.
Tony

Caution: using your lawn mower as a sled will void your warranty.

If your lawn is sloped enough, you could cut your grass that way

Actually, someone allready invented that.

@pillageTHENburn , It looks like you’ve been out of the Linkage Kit game for quite a few months - any chance of a return to production?

(especially if ā€œnoā€) Thanks for posting the BOM and the Laser files !

Sorry, life sort of took over. (and I disappeared from the Maslow Community for a few months) I actually have not stopped making and shipping kits!! (I sent out two large batches this week!) I did slow down production and basically stopped for a total of about 6 weeks after the ring started shipping. I assumed demand for the linkages would die out so I didn’t re-order hardware and just sold off the inventory I had. However, after a little time it became apparent that there was still demand for the linkages (I was still getting emails and requests), I think the enduring demand is based on several factors (which is an entirely different conversation).

Anyway, they ARE still for sale! I’ve been sending out a BUNCH this week so I’m running low at this very moment but I do still have some available. I have a new order of hardware coming in soon and I’ll be stocked back up again. (https://www.etsy.com/listing/558743441/)
Please let me know if you have any other questions or if you need anything else!

I made more!! Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner. I have a few left right now but I’m making more all the time. If you order one of the ones I have in stock I’ll ship them out in the next day or two, if they sell out then the lead time for my next batch is about 1-2 weeks.

Yeey, glad to hear you’re back, have been wondering where you went. Maybe don’t order too much stock for now. We don’t know what the future holds for the maslow.

Good things i don’t doubt, but if metalmaslows’s kit is the future i’m gonna get stuck with a lot of bosch conversion kits and maybe theye might be less need for a linkage kit too.

I was just thinking a couple of days ago that I hadn’t seen a post from you in awhile. Welcome back!
