Macbook won't connect to Arduino

setting up first time my cnc won’t respond to my macbook

Can you give us any more information? What kit are you using? What software are you using?

And what model Mac? Some of the older ones had USB issues

Macbook pro 12,1 it’s about 4 years old

I’ve determined my computer “sees” the Arduino but the motors won’t respond to commands in setup

USB powers the arduino, but the motors are powered by the 12 V power connected to the upper board. Is it connected?

I use a 10+ year old Macbook Air to run mine. Make sure that you are connected to the correct port. (have the correct port selected)

Edit:
Also, I think that you mentioned something about your motors not responding. You must establish proper connection to the Arduino first in order for the motors to respond.

What do you mean “correct port selected”?

Assuming classic maslow, not M2. In groundcontrol? You have to go into the settings

once in settings, make sure you select the port (will be different port name on a mac, but location of setting is the same) and enable the z axis.
