Maslow 4 CAD Share Location

Looking to design a sharpie holder to ‘plot’ with Maslow and wondering if the CAD of M4 is shared anywhere?

Thanks.

Source — Maslow has all the files. Let me know if anything is missing

Did you output the entire assembly as a STP in addition to the parts or just the individual parts? If there’s an assembly then it just saves me time and I’m lazy

The dust collector hole appears to be out of date at least compared to the Maslow 4 I have. The dust collector hole on my unit is ~ 1.75" with a sled diameter of 1.31" The sled diameter checks out but the dust collector cover appears too small in the model.

Like the hole in the clear acrylic piece is too small in the 3D model?

Yes the hole in the clear acrylic cover. 1 measured it at ~ 1.75"

Not sure if you noticed my 2 part question, first part was about a STP for the entire assembly.

Thanks!

I don’t have a great assembly for the whole thing…It’s on my todo list, but I’d like to spend some time and make a nice one before putting it out. If you make one feel free to share it!

I did change that part a couple times so it makes sense that I might have gotten the wrong version. I just updated that file so it should be the latest version now. Good catch!

Sounds good!

Very interested in seeing how this turns out.

Are you planning on having it be an attachment to a standard Maslow, or were you going to design something to go in place of the router?

Rough idea was to have it spring loaded and not replace the router as its too integral of a part to the machine. Right now even the sharpie mini is a bit long looking like it will require a spacer on the bottom of the sled.

Bottom disk is the sled
Top disk is the dust cover
top cyclinder is the router collar

I played around with putting a small marker in the router itself before ever putting a bit in, but I was having the same problem. Standing the sled further off the surface would solve that pretty quick.

Yeah I really dont want to have to … but its looking like that may be the best worst option until Sharpie makes a mini mini

Have you tried taking the collar completely off and seeing how much distance you get back from the hollow of that threaded cylinder it goes around? Does the Sharpie even fit in there?

This has me thinking towards making it so that it’s easy to take the router out and replace it with other inserts. It would require wider spools and clamps, so that a shell could get inserted where the router would have been, and there would be threads down the side that the router, or other inserts, could thread into. It could be oversized slightly so that a sleeve could be put on the standard dewalt, making it so replacing that sleeve is all it would take to make it fit a different router’s diameter (as long as it was smaller).

The only issue I see with that, other than the redesign and rebuild, is the PCB mounting on the router itself. I would really like to see that moved out onto something else, even though I see the elegance that it being on top and centered creates for the wiring of the motors, etc.

Yeah the sharpie mini doesn’t fit inside a 1/4" spindle. It just fits in my 1/2" router’s. I’m probably going down the path to design in 3D a holder for the sharpie that is spring loaded and 3D printed I’m thinking. I dont want to move the router.

Here’s the rough assembly @bar

If we have CAD for the other hardware bits I will gladly add them in.

Router is in there (surfaces only) thanks to GrabCad. Good enough for rough approximations. Needs to be validated at somepoint.

Unfortunately not much space to spring load the assembly. Probably will have to add a plywood spacer to the bottom of the sled to spring load the pen adequately.

Going to move the Sharpie Holder project over to another thread to keep this one only about the Maslow CAD. That thread here

I will gladly add the missing hardware, stepper motors, etc. if we have CAD available and share with the entire community.
