ON my Maslow 4, 1 of my 4 motors rotates (with respect to the arm which is stationary) slightly back and worth when it is switching directions. The arm screws appear tight. Thoughts on this?

Thanks.

my guess would be that the spool is not moving smoothly in the arm, possibly the
arm is clamped together too tightly.

This would be my guess. Those bolts which attach the motor to the arm being slightly loose would lead to that.
Did you put thread-locker (locktite) on the screws going into the motor? I haven’t had the issue, but I recall from assembly that the instructions mentioned including the thread-locker especially for those screws. I would also check to ensure there is a small gap between the arm and the drive gear (i.e., the gear with the set screw which attaches to the motor). If there isn’t a gap, then anytime the motor and gear are moving there would be some additional push against the arm.
Unfortunately, all of these fixes will require significant disassembly and re-assembly.
Threadlocker was utilized. I broke a router but yesterday when it slipped down in the adapter for 1/8" bits and perhaps that put extra stress on it.
Plan would be to just keep an eye on it and tighten when I switch from Ethernet to the new cables. Any issues with running as is?
Nope, should be fine to swap out when you do the encoders. Technically it might hurt accuracy slightly because it introduces a bit of lag between when the motor is supposed to start rotating and when it actually does, but it’s probably not a huge deal
Instead of an adapter, you can get a 1/8" collet (I use this one and it works great; 1/8" Collet for Dewalt Trim Routers). I don’t put much trust into the adapters.
This is perfect. I hate the adapter. Thanks!
Sounds good bar. My glued cables have been working great but will swap once every is verified and ready. Thanks!!
