Maslow 4 - The next generation of Maslow

The problem is that your computers are trying to connect out to the Internet
through the maslow, and that just isn’t going to happen.

If you have a way to tell them that this network does not have an Internet
connection, it will avoid a lot of grief later.

In this situation, your computers are opening up a limited browser to try to get
through the ‘enter your hotel password’ prompt that they are expecting. That
browser is not able to run the full maslow UI

So when this happens, just close/minimize that window and open a regular browser
and it will probably start working at that point.

To add context:

The captive portal *can* work on some systems as a way to connect and operate the machine, but only when it’s opening in a proper browser window, and likely only on desktop operating systems.

It might actually be good to be able to turn off the captive portal in settings, as this can also just cause annoying tab management if you’re having to restart often.

Sono riuscito a connettermi, riesco ad aggiornare il firmware ed il file Maslow… ma non si aggiorna il file indes

Italia

In the end I had to remove the M4 and put the M2 back, I can’t install the Index. I’ll try more calmly

English:

I managed to connect, I can update the firmware and the Maslow file… but the index file doesn’t update

This can happen if you have uncompressed the file, as it must be compressed to fit on that storage. I can’t tell if you have the file compressed or not from this image, though.

Italian:

Ciò può accadere se hai decompresso il file, poiché deve essere compresso per adattarsi a tale spazio di archiviazione. Tuttavia, non riesco a capire se il file è compresso o meno da questa immagine.

I have always installed the files by downloading it from Kickstarter, without problems, but there must be something else wrong.

Should be snagging from one of the two above sources.

I download them from there, I can install the Maslow file, the firmware, but not index. Up until now I haven’t been able to do anything other than make updates, but something has been stuck for some time now.

catching up on old messages, so apologies if this was already answered.

what you need to upload is the index.html.gz file, not an uncompressed
index.html (on a mac it ‘helpfully’ uncompresses it for you)

I keep trying to update the m4, but once connected it keeps getting stuck at the same screen. I am always convinced that it is a problem with Maslow and not with the PC

what is the screen you are getting stuck on?
and is this in a browser that opens automatically when you connect? or in a regular browser opened separately? We have seen that many of the browsers that open automatically to try and get you through a hotel portal to the Internet do not allow the maslow UI to work correctly.

At first it connected without problems with the same procedure, I also tried opening a second window and manually entering the IP address

What browser are you using, and have you tried with just a normal laptop/PC?

I tried with two Android phones, an iPhone, and a Windows PC with Google and Chrome. The same screen appears and doesn’t move forward.

I would turn off your wifi, let the maslow create its own network again, and connect to that so you can update it. This might not be ideal, but at this point we’re troubleshooting, not expecting these suggestions to end up being normal practice and you having to do them all the time. There’s a decent chance that updating it might help with the issue. Connecting without the home wifi in the mix will also rule out it being an issue with the maslow itself, to an extent, and point the finger potentially at the network you had it on.

notice the URL it’s showing, this is one of the crippled windows.

Sorry, could you explain better?

the url in the image you show above is ‘connectivitycheck.gstatic.com’ which is a URL used by your system to see if it has a connection to the Internet or if it’s got a captive portal that you need to sign in to (like when you are connecting to a hotel wireless connection)

the browser that is opened by this functionality does not do everything, and it cannot be used for manageing the maslow.

you need to close that window and open a normal browser instead, going to maslow.local or the IP address (192.168.0.1 by default I believe)

I keep trying with other smartphones too, but nothing, it always blocks in the same way, even if I try to connect "directly with 192.168.0.1. This way I really can’t use it.

It still looks like this?
