I’m thrilled to share my first project with the Maslow CNC: a set of stage props for a Bayou-themed Mardi Gras coronation! Here’s a glimpse of the concept for the stage – I’m focusing on the pieces on either side:
Learning Curve & Lessons Learned
My first attempt hit a snag with a connection issue, but I eventually got things sorted. The video below shows how I was slightly off with the homing, but it still worked out in the end!
The Maslow was taking a while to cut the tabs, and then I realized my plunge rate was set to a snail-paced 0.3! I thought plunge rate was the step down, so I adjusted it for the next jobs, and it was much faster.
There were definitely some frustrations getting started, but I’m starting to understand how everything works and I’m eager to keep learning.
Here’s a sneak peek of the stage props in progress:
Love it! I’m in Lafayette and my neighbor across the street was on the Krewe of Triton this past year. He already has plans for me for this upcoming season
Yes, I found a local box distributer that was selling these for $0.25 a piece. They are about 5 ’ x 5’. I cut two at a time and glue the two pieces together to give it a little more strength.
The box distributer tells me that these are the lids of pallet boxes that most buyers don’t want. They call them gaylord box lids.
It doesn’t have to be New Orleans, but it would be fun to get together in person with other users and share tips. It might make more sense to meet where one of the Maslow machines is operational. Anyway, we can just discuss possibilities.
