One driver motor not working - Maslow 4.0

I am just trying to get my maslow up and running and have one of the driver motors is not working. It did work once and then stopped. I have tried switching its input and the same motor doesnt work - so i dont think it is to do with the main board - I have updated firmware to v1.17 but still problem persists - have looked through similar threads on forum and tried the hardware options of switching inputs but no luck - havent opened motor up or anything yet - any help would be great

We have had a couple cases where the screws for the motor have not been tight
from the factory and worked loose, so there is a fair chance that taking the arm
apart to be able to get the motor off will fix it.

the other thing we have seen is the pins on the encoder board touch the bearing
under them and short out.

if you go to settings → test it checks each motor and encoder. Is it the motor
that is bad and you just switch the motor wire? or did you switch motor and
encoder wire and have things report bad.

Is this one of the stepper motors for the z-axis or one of the motors for retracting the belts?

Thanks for the replies - it is one of the belt motors that isn’t working - I switched both motor wire and encoder and same physical motor didn’t work. I actually forgot to change encoder once and jiggling that made the other motor move so figured it wasn’t the encoder. I will have a look at taking the motor out and tighten things to see if that helps

That definitely sounds like you’ve tracked the issue down to be with the motor itself and not with the controller board. If it’s not doing anything at all the first place that I would look is to see if maybe the wire to the motor has some damage.
