I have both an M1 (with a 3D printer shield) and a M2 (with the MM v1.2b shield) that I am getting back up and running after sitting for a long time. I’m on a tight budget so I need to keep my costs down, but one of the boards may be bad. So while I’m at it, I’m considering the upgrade to the MM Due Board.
I know the switch from an 8-bit to 32-bit board will add some processing speed, but is it worth it? In practical use, does it cut much smoother or faster?
Ok on the firmware. They have some of their own, but I saw some things when trying their MakerHub software (their version of WebControl) that made me wonder if they broke compatablity. Sort of looks like they were using a newer version of GCode that supported some additional commands that the older firmware didn’t. However, I plan on keeping with WebControl, which appears to have several useful features that they did not include in their copy.
