Printable rod support towers

Printing instructions

  • print with ~3mm shell (~7 perimeters with 0.4mm nozzle, 3mm top and bottom)
  • pause at 10mm to insert nuts
  • infill almost doesn’t matter with a solid shell like this
  • print supports only on the bottom surface of the clamp overhang

Features

  • This provides much better support to the rods (far less flex)
It has slots in it for nylock nuts (one slot for 10mm, one for 3/8") so that you can bolt a crosspiece over the top of the router for more rigidity (and/or a carry handle) The picture above is extending the towers 50mm above the clamps.
  • The back of these are flat so that you can wire tie things to it such as the power brick on the far side in the picture above. or the spindle power supply if using a spindle instead of a router
  • The latest version adds two holes to each of these so that you can store pins/bolts with the sled and slots for wire ties
  • The two sides are different, it will be flush with the arc of the sled if you have it setup correctly.

I use PETG as I’m in Phoenix AZ where it gets very hot (especially in parked vehicles)
