Shop Hacks - Do things the easy way!

I sometimes do through cuts without using tabs. It depends on what I am trying to achieve of course, but sometimes it works out better that way. The drawback to doing this is that because I have a vertical (15 degree) frame, sometimes the smaller pieces will come out when the bit retracts. Of course sometimes this means that a small piece can get stuck in a spot I don’t like. Instead of pausing the machine, turning off the router, and sticking my fingers in there, I use a spring-loaded retractable claw tool to pick the pieces out.

This is a tool that I often use to retrieve lost bolts or nuts in an engine bay, but it also comes in handy in so many other situations. It is very flexible, and is great for retrieving things that you just can’t reach with your hand, or don’t want to because of other risks (like the spinny ouchie thingy).
