I recall seeing issues/suspicions of static electricity buildup causing problems. Is there a recommendation for an aftermarket fix (like a resistor between two specific pads on the pcb) that will make the M4 more resilient?

Unfortunately the issue is inside of the ESP32 processor chip. My guess is it has to do with the WiFi circuits because they actively listening for emi.
The good news is that I haven’t heard of that happening recently and I believe that it’s mostly the dust collector hose which was causing that issue. They make anti- static dust hoses for exactly this reason and they seem to work well
