Thoughts on sanding ring interior face

Now that my maslow is up and running I am starting to notice some jerkiness when the bearings are rolling along the ring. My assumption is that the textured paint on the ring causes an uneven rolling surface for the bearings. Would it be safe to just sand off the interior edge?

Here is a quick clip of what I am noticing:

As long as the ring shape does not change, why not! Try it and let us know if you see an improvement.

Mine does that and it does not affect the cut.

The interior ring surface is supposed to be very smooth, if the paint is making
it bumpy, the paint is causing inaccuracy (this is why I made the top mount kit
from stainless steel, paint or rust would cause inaccuracy)

just watch out for rust on the bare steel, keep a light coat of oil (light
enough to not gather wood chips)

Put my sled together. I can attest to “very” jittery movement around the ring by the ring bearings as it was shipped to me. Some fine grit metal paper on the inside edge and slightly rounding up on both edges made them glide like butter. Definitely recommend it for smooth rolling. That was me just holding it with my fingers… That’s a lot of weight for two little fingers…

I did this too. Much more pleasing to watch but mine is like a razor blade now. Take care =)

Maybe round out that edge?

Where is the excitement in that!

I lightly sanded mine, and it is definitely smoother. Also added wax to the base bottom. Now as the sled travels around, it does not rotate more than a few degrees, if at all, at any position on the work space. Thanks for the suggestion! Hundreds of small improvements keep making the Maslow better and better!
