What are the benefits of the Upgraded Belt Guard?

Hey all, I’m assembling my M4, and was curious - what benefits does it introduce/problems does it solve? Like, scale of 1-10, is it worth it to take the time to print the parts, and what will the upgraded guards do?

I see “eliminate space between the gears and the spool…The should help prevent belt jamming.”
But, is that belt jamming a chronic/widespread issue?

just trying to guage the effort:payoff of printing and installing those upgraded guards.

I think it’s super worth it if you already have the machine apart. We’ve fixed a lot of the belt jamming issues with software, but it can still happen.

Basically what happens is that if the belt is lose (usually during calibration or when something has gone wrong) the lose belt can get sucked into the drive gears and mangled. The bad part is that you have to take everything apart to fix it so it’s nice just to avoid the issue entirely

@bar ok, thanks. Doing it.
