I noticed that the Maslow CNC kit is currently out of stock. I also learned that you can 3D print a lot of the parts yourself since the project is open-source. If it were available, I would buy one of these kits.
However, I have a 3D printer, and I’m wondering what specific parts I need to build the CNC robot. The information seems scattered and confusing: I can¢t find clear 3D printing templates, I don¢t know which ones I need to assemble the robot, and I¢m unsure about the software required.
Additionally, I want to know if I can use components I already have at home. Is there a comprehensive, step-by-step guide that consolidates all this information?
There is an open kickstarter for the version 4.1 kits, hoping to ship in
January.
all the source for the machine is at
There are only a few people who have printed parts, so you would be going
largely on your own.
I have everything cloned to an onshape document, and have some variations in the
design (using different motors, etc), but there is also an assembly showing the
original maslow configuration there.
There are going to be some gotcha’s when you make it yourself, the motors have a
longer-than-standard shaft, the 4.1 idler sprocket is a custom part, etc.
There is at least one person who has printed their own, so it can be done. I’d
have to dig a bit to find the thread they posted about it. It didn’t have a full
step-by-step instructions to do it yourself.
