Workbench laptop stand

After a summer and fall hiatus, I have finally been playing with the Maslow again. I found inspiration somewhere online and decided to build my own version of a laptop stand for my workbench/maslow table. I learned TONS cutting this one out.

Oh my gosh that is absolutely stunning!

What software did you use to design?

I especially love the drink holder :grinning:

Thanks! I used Fusion 360 to design it.

The drink holder is a the perfect size for a post-cut celebratory beer as well :upside_down_face:

You did a beautiful job. I feel like sometimes a lot of CAD software can lend itself to more blocky designs, and yours has a really nice flowing feel to it, that’s why I was curious if you used something special

… and why make 1 when you can make 2:

The wife saw my initial design and wanted one for her work space. I just finished her early Christmas present. I think it turned out better.

What kind of wood is that?

I forget, but I think it was 3/4" birch plywood I had left over. I stained it before cutting.

Would you be willing to sell the plan for this one. I’d love this for my work station

Hey, sorry for the late response. I’m on vacation right now on the opposite side of the world from my computer

Since I am getting so many requests for the files, I will post them here when I’m home (early Nov).

The files are fusion 360. As a side note for anyone using them: there might be some tweaking necessary; I remember that for one of the stands I made the holes needed some adjustments.

Here is the Fusion 360 file for those that are interested.

When I made my stands I didn’t do it all at once. I cut the designs (turtle or hand/leaf) first and then reset eveything for the other cuts.

There are a few small tweaks I would make if I were to do this again, but it worked out just fine:

  • The “table” has 15 drill holes (3 rows of 5) for the screws to fasten it in place. 15 is over kill.. I think I ended up using 9 of them.
  • The various holes for the bolts were a bit off in size. I ended up adjusting these manually to accomodate the bolt diameters.
  • On one of the versions (I forget which) the drink holder was a bit off and needed adjusting.

I hope someone has fun with this! I’m excited to see what other people come up with!
