Z Axis not working - new build

Received my Maslow 4.1 last week, spent the weekend assembling it. Afterward, I was able to retract the belts just fine, but Z axis is not responding. I’ve read other posts and double checked everything, I’ve updated firmware and no matter what I try nothing seems to work. At first, when I unlocked Alarm, I was able to move one of the Z steppers, but then it started to just click when selected - like it was trying to engage. So I spun the stepper shafts by hand to confirm they were not bound, and they spin freely. So I swapped cable locations and tried again - to differentiate between a stepper, cable, or port malfunction, and now nothing even clicks. Switched them back to the original locations and now I don’t even get a click and I see error 22. Do I have a bad controller board? What else should I try?

Thanks,

We did have a bad batch of controller boards, but they were sent out during the kickstarter, not after. It’s possible that it’s a bad board, but we haven’t seen that issue happen much except with boards from the bad batch.

I think that this is likely the issue (from the FluidNC page):

22: Gcode undefined feed rate The gcode used requires a feed rate. You must have an F on or before the line with the gcode.

Basically it sounds like maybe the z-axis is being commanded to move at speed 0 (which is what we’re seeing).

Can you try refreshing the browser page and turning the machine off and back on? I’m not sure why that would be happening, but one of those things might clear it.

Just tried again, and it’s working fine. Thanks.
