Alternative to makerverse

You have to use digital calipers, a tape measure isn’t going to do it… I did my edge calibration probably 4 or 5 times to get it dialed in real good.

Z axis can go negative and reverse the other direction if you overshoot the numbers.

You have to use negative values as well depending on travel direction.

Z Axis was probably the biggest pain, make sure you are measuring consistently from the same point flush against two edges.

for measuring the Z axis, you may be better off with a digital dial gauge
instead of a caliper

and note that the sled does not need to be hanging from the chains to calibrate
the Z.

Thanks for the tips. My issue atm is not measuring accuracy, it’s that when it’s supposed to move 10mm it moves ~ 20mm, sometimes 200mm+ , and sometimes moves the wrong way

That’s an indication that the machine isn’t where it thinks it is. usually
because the chains were removed from the sprockets.

The machine doesn’t actually know where the sled is, it just knows how much it’s
turned the motors since calibration, so if you ever detach the chains from the
motors, it now no longer knows where it is (this is what the reset chain lengths
does in the webcontrol/groundcontrl, it lets you have a marked link on the
chain, put it in position, and then tell the machine where it is)

Hi tj, is there any way to get the RPi build of 1.3.0?
Luca

I’m sorry that I am late to the party, but have you figured this out? I have had similar issues on my M2 machine that was set up and working fine, and all of a sudden went wonky. I agree with @dlang that you probably need to reset the chains. I fought like hell not to, because it WAS working, but in the end, that is what fixed my problem. It’s a pain in the ass, but go back to square one, mark the chains and sprockets, and rehang it.

Sorry for late replies… Makerhub (previously Makerverse) is now on v1.3.1. I’ll have an announcement shortly, however, the Pi version was just built and it had not been thoroughly tested on this update.

Our releases are posted here:

And the AppImage file in Makerhub 1.3.1 is what you are looking for.

Thanks!

If you are still on Makerverse you might want to switch over to Makerhub. We are recommending to people that if you have a working version of Makerverse with your settings dialed in, you are fine and don’t upgrade.

Should you need to upgrade (usually a cookie expired in the Makerverse forcing people to upgrade) then get the latest version of Makerhub here:

There are four default machine profiles. If you have custom built machines, you may need to setup your own new machine profile. However you can get the settings in the hidden .makerverse file (normally in your home directory) and copy the variables to the .makerhub file created the first time you run Makerhub.

If you continue to have issues, request a support ticket be opened by emailing info@makermade.com or on the website.

Thanks!

Sorry - I spoke too soon. AppImage is for Linux/x64. Pi should be released soon because of some issues building in ARM platform that we are working on. Keep an eye on that link for release updates when we have Pi built and I’ll make an announcement when we have everything ready.

Thanks.

Sorry but I am confused. I thought makermade and Maslow were different companies? If this forum is for Maslow, why is makermade software being advertised in here? Or am I missing something?

there have been various iterations of makermade, and at different times,
makermade has pointed people here for support (and we have done what we can to
help them)

since those machines need different software than the other maslow machines,
it’s good to know about what’s avaiable.

at one point, the makermade software required Internet check-in to work, and
when that server went away, it broke a lot of people. The current software
doesn’t need that, so is more free than what was out previously.

They are a different company, but we try to keep our forums open to anyone and we’ll help anyone as best we can.

As previously stated, Maslow CNC and Maker Made are different companies. There is some crossover as people find the Maslow forums because they have an M2 or upgraded their original Maslow kit with a Maker Made “Upgrade Kit”. Often times, people buy the original Maslow kit sold by Maker Made, and the documentation points to these forums.

The original Maslow kit sold by Maker Made still uses Bar’s original Maslow design. Quite a few people here with the Upgraded kit or the M2 use Makerverse (rebranded as Makerhub) software.

Maker Made will be discontinuing sales of the original Maslow kits once we run out of stock to avoid any further confusion between Maslow CNC and Maker Made.

Thanks,
–t.j.

Will you be withdrawing your attempt to trademark the name Maslow CNC to prevent us from using it?
