Can you display Webcontrol screen from Rasp Pi when using another computer to control the Router

While I am at it, for those that build the metal maslow 12 foot rail like we have…A rolling little “baker” from HD is a must! You have to drill holes and add wood piece to put nail in for the chain end, all that in metal. That rolling baker has a flip up little station to put your drill on and all the nuts and bolts. Saves a TON of time up and down measuring, changing bits. All your supplies up at your height. You can roll yourself around the length of the beam using the ceiling (and your hands). I swear by it! It is yellow and black, you can see it behind the ladder in the pick above. You can even use that to do what I am doing now.

checking in, hows it going?

great! Chains reset, marked with permanent marker for next time. Centered like it is supposed to be  I shut down the pi right after some test movements and setting Z. Rebooted Pi, the webcontrol.json file WAS there now!! Made a copy of the file to save if this ever happens again. Right now, test cuts for first Holey test literally just finished cutting. My mom is here to help me measure as I cannot see. Will let you know how it goes, thanks again for all your help  Be back…

no worries, glad its going well for you. keep at it.

Ok we have success! Centered. Ran Holey calibration 3 times. Error rate went from high 3’s down to low 3. What I did notice is when typing in the values after running test pattern it’s dropping a ton of numbers in the placeholder to tell Maslow how far to move. I just deleted them all after. I saved everything and shut down pi to make sure all is saved again. I think will save THIS dialed in version of WebControl.json as well if something gets corrupted again.

We are centered. All values are still in there which I put in during calibration and that were done with the chain procedure. Maslow looks to be centered now. My eyes are bugging from measuring and running the calculator to convert to MM, going to take an hour break or so. May try a test part later on, if not tomorrow morning and we will keep fingers crossed the cut is accurate! Thanks again for all your help today Jon!!! …and for Orob’s great calibration video. More to come later tonight or tomorrow on results of test cut 4

Excellent, i will check back in the morning.

In the morning when you get some time id like to understand what you mean by this. Im not following.

excellent, I will be here  Ready to run a test part again. Absolutely, I will explain what I mean by that. Happens on all devices logged into to to the IP address. I would run the Holey cal on the computer, but keep the fire HD tablet by my side in case something goes wonky. I have to move the sled to take measurement of Holey’s M6 measurement down the middle as well as one sides (on either side of center) angle measurements (the X pattern measurements), so used the tablet to move maslow after cutting test pattern to easily measure that area (this way the Holey cal is never minimized as would have to move sled with computer normally right while it is waiting for the 12 measurements). I noticed on computer and the tablet, a long string of numbers populated in the box to put in the measurement in to move the sled in general. I mean a string at least 15-20 random numbers, I found that odd, and remembered it did it on Monday’s Holey test as well…sort of strange right? Anyhow, tomorrow morning we pick back up, going to run another test part then. Goodnight my friend!!

I am heading to bed now but have been pondering how long the Holey calibration takes to do 3 times. Too long and almost need another individual to help measure that dead nuts with measurements that far away especially for a guy with vision not so good. I need eyes in the tape, not left hand and if it stays in the mark

. I have been pondering, and we should design a plug that works similar to the attached pic (many have seen this at depot)… they sell I think called Veranda plugs for composite trim at HD, something like that, similar concept…, but with a slot to lock tape measure in, and another one with slot in the center to measure to. Maybe even Kreg jig plugs will
Work of trim them down, have to check tomorrow I have a ton but forget the circumference…Or the plug only color work; no slots; , hook and and measure to inside of next plug. I bet this would speed up measurement by at least an hour or more if doing 3 times. Each run, lets say it auto does 3 runs, drops another set of holes right below the original, then a set right below that ( so fresh holes for plugs, but duplicative of itself from the run the before just 1/2 inch lower. And top measurements needs to account for the lowering of holes of course. Drop in the plugs into router holes, hook on tape measure and on to the next. I totally see the value of the Holey calibration but thinking speed up measuring process is a huge must to get more to use the process often. Thoughts?

I have to check diameter but even a nail head in the holes upside down, hook on and measure to the left of the nail shaft. Something to speed up measurements of all those point. Again just a thought but going think about more tomorrow

glad to hear things are improving. its been suggested on the forums to use pins or drill bits to use as measuring point as you mentioned. the problem with that is having a consistent point of reference to measure from. its a good idea that you should pursue. other ways to improve measurements are using a metric instead of imperial for the measurements and using measuring tape that is certified (class 2)

Yes things are getting better. Or so I hope so! I will keep pursuing there had to be a faster way. I have these ends that go on tape measures to make easier to cut drywall. I bought a bunch just because I thought was an interesting concept. Going to see if can do something with them. I believe they are called “rip zip”. I think can maybe load a drill bit in there and then perfect. Will show you what I mean in a bit, need to finish up cooking crepes for the kids, then heading to garage

Also a different tape measure for metric, great idea ordering one now actually between crepe flips

if you are buying a new tape measurer, search for “CLASS 2”. Class 2 tape measurers are tested against a standard and are much for acurate than what you find at hardware stores or big box stores.

Ok good to know THANK YOU! Going to cancel what I bought, don’t think was class 2.

Ok Jon, here we go, loading Gcode in now fingers crossed! Hold up we wanted to talk about the numbers being populated in the Distance box. Just noticed again a string of about 10 in there and haven’t even attempted to move the sled yet!

They were there when I booted up to WebControl without even touching anything yet as far as I know. Well except typing in the IP address to log in, but that was in a window in Firefox.

if you are talking about the box on the control panel where you can manualy enter in a distance to move the sled then that happens to me too sometimes. its not a big issue
