Can you display Webcontrol screen from Rasp Pi when using another computer to control the Router

I did the coding, but was mid rewrite of the mod when makerverse dropped and I stopped working on it. That code mod supports the buttons also. Search Wii remote or wiimote. That was part of it.

hey gang, I am have been trying to search on the forum and cannot find this exact answer. Do you need to, OR should you set the Z axis to zero each time you boot up the arduino for the day? I have the metal maslow upgraded Z axis motor w/ Rigid router in use…as well as the metal sled with the meticulous Z setup although I have not assembled it (that’s a project for the spring). Asking this as I too did try to run a test shape a bit back, and it plunged a pass right through the plywood (could of been my error in Estlcam, but I think had the pitch wrong…it was -3.17 and changed to -24 after reading through forums here). What I am trying to figure out, is does the coding remember the Z axis position if you never manually adjust it AFTER setting it to zero, or do you/should you set it each day to be safe. Thanks for anything you can offer, actually heading down now to test again for the first time. I did the Holey calibration last night, she is dialed in. Great suggestion on the blue tape on test run 2 and 3! thank you for that :slight_smile:

Sled position including z axis is known by the arduino. As long as you don’t manually change it between powered events, it will remain a known quantity. My system gets powered down when not in use because the rpi wifi and bluetooth confuse the garage door openers and dramatically reduce their useful range when the rpi is powered on. Recalibration or rezeroing is NOT required every time it gets turned on. I power it, upload the gcode, position the sled and press the start button. I only rezero the z axis when the bit gets changed.

after the machine is idle for a couple of seconds, it stores it’s position in
flash so it will survive power outages, so as long as you don’t change the bit
or power the machine down too fast, it should remember it’s position.

Hey Orob and Dlang. I just tried to run a shape to test, in the board my 4 inch square looks huge with a line down to home from it. I figured would try it anyhow, and my bit rose way up, then plunged in a bit…back up, almost like it thinks zero Z axis is much higher than normal. Does this sounds like something I did wrong on my end in Estlcam? Also the sled is not moving, just stays put. There is also a weird huge triangle in the background when Ioaded it, almost as if the part is not square to the board.

if you post the gcode file we can check it and see what it is trying to do.

I have the setup to LinuxCNC and I see in the forum post should be GRBL. I am not 100% sure what that means, but going to try it. Found this GRBL comment on the forum, will see if this changes anything. Will try while you check out the gcode. Thanks again David!

So far, this looks better David. The gcode saved as .nc instead of .gcode, but now the square in the Board looks the right size! Let me give it a while, and see if she runs now…

David it is working, and looks like a 4 inch square! Only thing on the left side on the down cut it decided to angle in a pit then go straight down. Do you think it has something to do with that odd triangle from earlier almost showing me out of square? Maybe I should try clean from Eslecam now that changed the settings to GRBL and re-import fresh code? Looks good other then that and its deliberately going in on that left side like that

unfortunantly there is not one standard for Gcode, there is a basic minimum, but
there are a huge number of additional commands that some systems understand, and
others don’t.

setting grbl vs linuxcnc tells the CAM system what commands it can use. The to
are very similar, but it’s worth trying.

Now I can see it definitely changes based on what I pick…which now I understand that is the output. As you can see from the pic it was going good and then took severe turn for the worse. I will try again. Since I am
New to this, if I cannot figure out how to export Estlcam gcode properly, is there another program I should try instead? I taught myself Solidworks and found way to get into estlcam so rather not change what comfortable with, but at same time as you can see from the part something went very wrong! Lol

right off the bat, not fully understanding Gcode…there are 2 parts mentioned which is odd…as I was saving parts in estecam, but in totally different estlecam saves…

that looks like the sled is sticking or you are trying to move too fast (or a
combination of the two)

what direction was it trying to move when the cut failed?

roughly where were you cutting this (center, bottom corner, other)?

this is the type of thing that typically happens in the bottom corners because
the chain is too close to vertical and gravity doesn’t provide enough side force
to move the sled.

but it can also happen that the sled sticks, the chains get a little slack, and
then things move.
