Cheap Chinese BL Router Idea

Hello, i have not found such an idea in the forum so i put this here for discussion. Could maslow 4 use a brushless chinese fake makita router of 300/600(?)W?

If yes, then the following setup could be possible:

  • A 25€ extender such as aliexpress item 1005007335898440

  • A 43€ router such as 1005007224460306 (300W) or 1005007010163419 (600W)

  • a 4€ current sensor such as 32231711500

  • makita batteries probably existing already

  • or/plus (at a higher cost) a 71€ power supply converter from AC to 18V, such as 1005006065573318, but its output is limited to 300W. there is also another alternative with ~100€ for 1100W Max.

this solution requires (for the cheaper option) the integration of the current sensor in the system, checked every 0,5s for example and emergency stopping when the battery dies and the current stops. this is to solve the issue of the danger of running the machine with a stopped router.

the reason I am putting it into discussion is because with ~75€ (or ~115/145€ for the AC solution) we have a brushless router with selectable speed. not super powerful, but promising for a slow machine with a small bits. I am aware of the topic on spindles, but at that price point the only options are brushed as far as I understood.

I think that is a really interesting idea. The current sensor wouldn’t be too hard since we have extra pins exposed on the controller board to make things exactly like that possible.

that could work (I don’t see the diameter of the router anywhere, but assume
it’a a makita clone)

but the combination pricing of these is higher than the spindle options, which
would be quieter.

The cheapest brushless spindle kit with a power supply I have found is a 400W one with ~120€. So, am I missing something? Or the brushless motor is not worth the extra cost? The brushed spindles kits are indeed similarly priced to my solution.
