Hey all, I was going to try some cool designs I saw online mainly this one, however I can’t get the .dxf file to open in inkscape or easel. what should I do?

They may be looking for an svg file. You can convert online at a few places. Probably an offline utility too.

I found one and used it but the scale is way off

With a .dxf I would go direct to g-code, rather then adding another conversion in between. For the pieces to fit, you likely have to adjust the the slots to your thickness of material in a CAD program.
You can try qcad to go from .dxf to .svg
