First attempt at engraving

This is my first attempt at engraving, using a V bit (60deg) but it’s coming up with a couple of lines where the bit starts and ends. I’m just doing a 2d conture in fusion 360 down to a depth of about 2mm. Any idea what might be causing this?

It could be that the bit is not retracting before the sled starts to move. Within Ground Control there are some little red and green circles which indicate where the z-axis moves should take place. Do they appear over the engraving lines?

Those lines are from the lead in and lead out.
You need to disable that in the toolpath. or use leadin and lead outs that follow the toolpath.

assuming Fusion 360 for generating paths

Yeah I was looking through the settings and found that. Wondered if that was it. I’ve got a bunch more engraving to do for the next project (well marking where small holes need manually drilling) so will test it out there. Thanks heaps
