How do you import a svg into krabz cam?

i just don’t seem to understand, because it just wont work, i make an svg and then tell it to import but it just dosen’t do anything, do i have to add 3d properties to the svg or am i missing a toolpath setting or what? and can it create a toolpath off of pngs?

Hi, a few questions…

What software did you use to produce the svg?

What kind of elements does it contain? Paths? Text?

KrabzCAM can use PNGs, but only for laser-engraving and as hightmap for reliefs. So if you want to do profile-cutting or pockets, you need to use an SVG.

If you can share your SVG-file I might be able to help.

i used affinity, and just text and was telling it to save them as curves

The file you shared didn’t contain any graphical elements.

Just an empty svg wrapping:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>
<!DOCTYPE svg PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD SVG 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/1.1/DTD/svg11.dtd">
<svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xmlns:serif="http://www.serif.com/" width="100%" height="100%" viewBox="0 0 7200 7200" version="1.1" xml:space="preserve" style="fill-rule:evenodd;clip-rule:evenodd;stroke-linejoin:round;stroke-miterlimit:2;">
    <use xlink:href="#_Image1" x="1799" y="2819" width="3572px" height="1755px"/>
    <defs>

    </defs>
</svg>

how does one gain graphical elements to an svg?

I’m still learning about all this but I think skipping your own svg generation is a good way to start… You can actually make cool shapes right within krabzcam. Made this video for you:

Once you have actually cut some shapes sucessfully you can create and import your own designs into krabz. Here is an example of saving an svg in inkscape and importing into krabz:

Generate toolpath with Krabzcam

thank you i really appreciate the videos, i downloaded inkscape after affinity kept messing up and it worked much better i just gotta figure out why it made such a big area around it

i had used krabzcam before for the shapes and got it to work okay but i just need to figure out how to do more external shapes and letters now

I don’t now why it sometimes adds that blue area around it. Anyone else know where that comes from?

in your drawing program, try doing select-all, then deselecting your stuff in
the middle, then delete anything else it still has selected

You probits not a cutting path.ably have dots that are too small to see. The blue line is a guide to drawn around where it thinks the objects are. It is to show you if your cut would fit. Its not a cutting path.

i figured it wasnt a cutting path, but when i tell it to jog the perimeter it tries to follow the blue
