I haven¢t used my M2 for years, and was going to bring it back to life. That means updating it with the latest software, firmware, etc.
However, it appears that the dates on the latest software and firmware date back years. I see nothing newer than about 4 years.
that seems about right
Look for WebControl, it has the firmware build in to it, so is the easiest
one-stop way of getting going.
Are people still using these machines? Have there been software and firmware updates that I¢m just not finding?
People are still using those machines, and there is a trickle of people like you
who are just setting things up.
A couple years ago, @bar came out with the maslow4 design, which is MUCH faster
and significantly more accurate, so development has shifted to it.
The old design that you have suffered from accuracy issues that were never
solved. Depending on what you are doing, that may not matter (if you are doing
sceanery for a play, yard figures, etc it will not matter at all. If you are
doing furniture that needs to fit together, it can be done, but it’s a lot
harder and more gotchas)
Thanks for the update. That’s kinda what I figured out on my own. Nice to have it confirmed, though.
Is the maslow4 alive? It looks like an M2 → M4 upgrade might be a lot of work as the frame is bigger and there are now four motors and a belt. It would be worth it, though, if there’s a community that’s supporting it.
Yeah, for the specifics of the machine, they’re completely different, however your frame can almost certainly be reused, but probably with a few modifications.
I’m still using an old Makermade, not a the M2 though. I think the M2 (with M2 visable in large letters on the sled) uses a DUE board which isn’t compatible with Webcontrol and uses their own software.
The term M2 is sometimes used incorrectly to describe the maslow classic or chain maslow but it is actually an “updated” chain maslow sold by Makermade.
If it’s a classic maslow I would be able to help you with Webcontrol to get it going again.
