Kobalt Router Shaft?

Hi! I am super new here and about to order my Maslow, but don’t know my router shaft size. Has anyone worked with the Kobalt router from Lowes? Do you know the coupler size?

Thank you!

I haven’t heard of that one. I would use the model number do a Giggle search for spare parts as a fist approach.
If you have that router already you can measure it and order the right coupler.
If you haven’t bought it, you can post a link on the exact router and hopefully receive helpfully comments here.

Could it really be that Lowes only has one model of Kobalt router? I did a search on the lowes website and it returned this: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-Fixed-Corded-Router-with-Table-Included/1000318615

Yep, that is the one! It arrived at my house today, so I should be able to measure it myself. Thanks for you help!

Excellent! Once you have put it together and put it through its paces, please get come back to the forums and let us know how well it worked. We can add it to the list of tested routers then. https://github.com/MaslowCNC/Mechanics/wiki/Kobalt-K11RTA-03

For the curious, here’s an image of the Kobalt router with table:

good news, bad news. We can’t decide if it is 5/16" or 8mm…ugh! The difference is as thin as a hair. What happens if we choose the wrong one!?!

Choose the larger - for the z axis the slight offset if the shaft is smaller (looks like 0.0024” difference?) won’t matter at the speed the z motor turns.

Awesome! Thank you!

You have already been so helpful! I feel like this be the beginning of a lot of future questions. Wish me luck!

If the offset does affect the operation, you can wrap a piece of thin metal (for example foil) around the shaft to act as a shim, but I doubt that will be necessary.
