Hello folks, I started a Maslow build just prior to the Pandemic, and lost a few screws.
They vibrated out from the Z-axis shaft coupler that mates the motor to the Rigid Router. Excited to get this calibrated and hoping someone knows what the spec is, or where or where I can get replacements. (Will probably use loctite next time around.)
I would try an ACE Hardware, TruValue Hardware they tend to have smaller/obscure odds and ends over the big box stores. Harbor Freight also sells a set screw kit of various sizes, I don’t know if they will be as small as the ones you need. RadioShack maybe?
You can bring the piece in with you and test fit the screws.
Lowes and Home Depot have pretty good selections of screw odds and ends. Even if
they don’t have exactly what you need, they will have enough for you to figure
out what you do need, at which case you can order it online if needed.
Thank you for everyone’s help. I should be able to source set screws, but don’t know the size, and would rather not take it apart to go to the hardware store.
there are quite a few different kits out there and they include different
couplers, if you can say where you got your kit someone may be able to say that
that provider only shipped one type (it’s possible anyway) and then be able to
help you.
odds are good that they are a metric size (a lot of the cheaper hardware is
souced from China, and as a result is metric)
If you had one set screw that you didn’t lose, you can take it out and bring it with you. If you know where your kit came from you can contact the vendor.
Sorry not much help. Kits are different. My z axis is aftermarket.
Thank you very much for your help. I ordered an assortment of metric set screws from amazon. It turned out to be a 4mm set screw.
As the original set screws were relatively short and backed out in about 4 passes, I used screws 3x longer and will thread lock once calibrated.
