MakerCam , how to change start position?

Hello everyone , I’m new here.. I converted a CNC to hold a plasma cutting torch. It works great using MakerCam to cut out 2D silhouettes. The problem I’m having is , sometimes , when I dona profile “calculate all” with the MakerCam software, the beginning of the cut will start somewhere in the middle of the silhouette where the small arrow is located on the calculated outside line. I’d like to be able to move that starting point to an outside edge so the plasma cutter doesn’t need to punch through the metal which makes a mess on the silhouette. If it can start on an edge, it makes an clean entry and cut. Is it possible to change the starting position on MakerCam ?

Unfortunately there is no way to change the starting location in MakerCAM, but I think that Krabz Kam which has largely replaced MakerCAM can do that. It is also much more actively supported.

Here’s a link that might help:

Can you send a some pictures of your setup? I’m sure plenty of people would be interested - I know I am!

Yes , I’ll send pictures… Thank you so much for the software link. I was able to make a .nc file with my needed entry point specified… That cam software is really nice.. I appreciate it..:+1::+1::+1:… I’ll take pics later today of my setup. Thx again, Eddie.

Here are pics of wood cutting CNC turned plasma cutting CNC. Our machine came with an external 120v AC to 24v DC converter. We had to solder a wire from the negative side of the 24v DC plug to earth ground of the house , otherwise, emi will scramble the operating computer cus we’re using a high frequency non-touch pilot start.
Then, we cut out the center of the table for metal discharge, made a stand-off rack, torch cable hanger ,removed spindle motor and mounted the plasma torch head in it’s place with a custom made ring and setscrews.
