I had the same thought. I expected better performance out of them based on the datasheet
What caused the chips to overheat and melt off? was it mostly lack of cooling? Because adding a bigger aluminum heat sink and fan is pretty easy. These same chips are used on the DUE board has anyone experienced the same problem? One reason I wouldn’t expect to see over heating on the DUE board is because it is tied to systems with dedicated z axis so less stress on the z motor.
