Here is a time lapse video completed today. Actual cut time about 1 hr
This looks awesome! Iām loving watching that z-axis work
Im interested
Thanks for the video, I am interested as well.
Any idea when these will finally be available?
Is this kit delivered to UK as weell?
I hear you man, youāre not wrong but you got to put it into context. This is essentially a one man operation trying to pull off something this scale for the first time.
Heās been honest all along, from his point of view, and at each step his time quotes have seemed perfectly reasonable, and I think most of us would have thought so if we were in his shoes as well.
But a combination of Murphy, geopolitical whims, and just plain unforeseen obstacles makes these kind of things take WAY longer than any reasonable person would think at any given point of time.
I could see this easily not being ready until later this year because there are just so many moving parts (pun intended) to get sorted out to pull off something like this.
I believe the only thing the OP is guilty of is naivete and not quite understand the true time scale of a project such as this.
Case in point look at all of the delayed and/or failed crowdfunded projects. Getting something made from scratch is hard and can take years and years not months as so many creators think it will. Fortunately for us in this case the product already exists and is only going through a slight iteration.
Thank your stars that this was not a crowdfunded endeavor, many who paid would be screaming for blood by now itās quite a $h_t show over at the two big crowdfunding sites these days.
Kudos to @Metalmaslow for doing it right and not accepting funds until it is ready to go correctly. Hereās hoping heās not too far in over his head and these will be done and available soon.
Hi @Metalmaslow- at the beginning of this thread, you stated you were making 100 units in the initial run. Iām wondering if youāve been tracking how many people have expressed interest so far? I ask as I, too, put off buying another kit as I was (relatively) early to express interest in your offering last fall. Respectively understand your delays and that youāre not accepting deposits but Iām wondering if you could at least provide a list of those for whom youāll be reserving a kit- after all this patience it would be a letdown to then discover youāve already promised your 100 units to others. One thing Iāve learned from my day job is the importance of managing expectations and how much communication plays to this.
Cheers and hope the project is coming along well!
We will have about 200 units initially Iām sure many people have already bought from a competing kit producer so thereās really no way to know what the demand will be
Any ETA on the new kit?
I joined specifically because of your build. Where do I throw money at you?
I like your Maslow taste and your logo
The delay has dragged through getting another house, dealing with Mrs. Mooseās priorities (we have a garage sized living room that she adamantly insists cannot be used as a shop), and repainting and furnishing the second house. A PJI meant the northward trek wonāt happen this year and allow use of the Mooselake Maslow, not to mention putting a damper on shop time in the smaller than the living room garage. Half of the actual garage is taken up with the SS Bilgerat (would have been swamprat except my brother named it first), an example of just how bad a previous owner could bugger up wiring. I should note Mrs. Moose wonāt consider that an acceptable reason for shopifying the LR.
Iāll probably be ready for a Metal Maslow if/when they actually arrive sometime this fall. Keep me on the list
Almost there will start boxing up kits this week.
Excellent, I too signed up because of this buildā¦money flinger standing byā¦
Yep Iām interested in this kit if any are left. Thanks.
Over 13,000 views of this thread, way beyond any other. Iām sure youāll have enough demand for the 200 units.
So is this a complete kit? There are no other things needed? Comes with complete instructions?
None of the kits are complete. One needs to build the wood frame, but router bits, buy plywood to cut, etc. The instructions for all kits are basically the same. Our kit is more complete than the other kits because it comes with laser cut sled and z axis which takes about 15 minutes to put together vs having to cut your own sled out of plywood. Hopefully that answers your questions.
Just so I am clear, you need to buy plywood for the stand, router bits, and wood for your projects? That is all?
