Final assembly of myZ-Axis (based on the design of @MeticulousMaynard). Tomorrow I’ll produce some chips.

Nice. What is the router?

It’s a Kress Spindle.

Kress makes a 110v USA version which is single speed, only their 220v router has varaible speed, Looks like a very nice router too bad not available in USA with variable. speed.

Nice work, very innovative placement of the z axis motor and pulleys. I like those weights too.

this looks really good, thanks for sharing. I’m getting a new sled in a week or so and I need to make a z axis for it. I have several questions:

  1. Does your vacuum suck down the sled?
  2. Did you 3d print the spindle clamp?
  3. How long are your Z slides?
  4. Do you worry about side-loading the system when cutting (would a second clamp closer to the top of the moving z plate be a good or bad idea)?

Thanks  To place the motor upside down was an idea of @Sylvain_G.

The weights are made of sand casted tin.

  1. Does your vacuum suck down the sled?

Will find that out today

  1. Did you 3d print the spindle clamp?

Yes

  1. How long are your Z slides?

250mm

  1. Do you worry about side-loading the system when cutting (would a second clamp closer to the top of the moving z plate be a good or bad idea)?

Not that much. But I can easily add an additional clamp in the top.
