Repeated Top Right Motor Over Current

I have been running into the EMI issue for the past few weeks when using my M4, however, I began to run into another issue and I wonder if anyone else has insight into this issue.

I am repeatedly getting motor overcurrent errors on the top right motor where the machine stops.

  1. It is always the top right motor.
  2. The top right motor is warm to the touch when operating normally, but the other 3 are not.
  3. The belt does not feel any tighter compared to the others.
  4. I have run multiple calibrations to try to correct for any miscalibration.
  5. the 3rd time that my machine had the EMI issue, I was not watching the machine and it spent ~10 minutes in the bad state where the motor kept running and the machine was halted. When this happened, the machine got to a point where it could not move and the motor got hot.

I am going to try to disassemble that arm tonight and see if I can spot any mechanical issues.

  • Has anyone else observed similar behavior?
  • Is it possible that I have a faulty motor?
  • Does anyone have any other ideas?

Check that your bearings are pushed all the way down on that arm. If the bearing is not down all the way there may be a chance that the gear impacts the bearing and is experiencing mechanical resistance

Thanks
I pulled that arm apart tonight and the bearing seemed to be in all the way, but the spool was tight and I had trouble spinning it even with the motor disconnected. I cleaned it up, made sure it spun well and lubricated. I ran another calibration and am going to resume testing to see if it happens again.
