Router question

I notice most of the ppl use ridgid router. The question is with z axis do you guys have to lock and unlock to move the router?

We do not have to lock and unlock. You can leave the router locked but adjust the tension of the screw such that the router slides freely (but not too freely) in the base.

It’s also a good idea to polish where the router and base meet since magnesium and aluminum want to party, er, corrode while hanging out together. Then wax the two and adjust the tension on the tightener bolt until the router body slides freely inside the base without any slop
