Router base clamp

I’ll be assembling the Maslow kit soon and I’m not use about the router clamp. Obviously the router (any model) uses the base clamp to lock in place when in use. However, I with the Z Axes in place does the clamp need to unlocked or adjusted loose enough for the Z axes motor to move the router up and down freely?

The clamp should be closed, but loosened enough for the router to move

Don’t forget to use some lube so it can slide.

Dry Lube, Powdered Graphite…
A Grease Base Lube, I think would collect Fine Wood Dust and seize it up

I use bees wax.
